Title
This is the one document that is absolutely necessary to the sale. If you are in possession of your car’s title, whether that’s in your home office or at a safe box in the bank, you’ll want to grab it and bring it along with you to our dealership once you’re ready to sell.
But I’m still making payments.
This is not an unusual scenario. If you haven’t paid off your car loan yet, the vehicle’s title will be in the hands of your bank or lender. If this is the case, you just need to contact your lienholder to discuss the loan payoff amount.
But I’m still in my lease agreement.
No problem. We can go ahead with the sale even if you’re still in your lease agreement. Simply call your lender via the phone number listed on your lease agreement and request the payoff amount. Once you’ve paid off your lease, you can transfer the title from the lease holder to yourself. Then, you can sell your vehicle legally.
CARFAX® Vehicle History Report™
The rest of these documents are optional, but they can help when making a sale. If you have already run a CARFAX® Vehicle History Report™ on your car, truck or SUV, you can bring that with you to the negotiations. However, since you’ll already be providing us with your car’s vehicle identification number (VIN), we will have access to that information ourselves. This report will disclose all service records, title changes/number of owners, discrepancies in mileage, etc.
Warranty Documentation
If your vehicle is still covered by its warranty, that will definitely drive up its value. If your car is covered under a transferable warranty, bring the necessary documentation along with you to our dealership. Include contact information for the warranty provider if it’s not a manufacturer warranty. Again, while this helps your case when you’re trying to sell, it isn’t essential to complete the sale.
