Quick Tips for First-Time F-150 Owners in El Dorado, AR

You've finally done it. You've found the truck of your dreams! Weeks of research and test drives have led you to this moment, and after all that work, our team here at Karl Malone Ford thinks you deserve a little reward. We've compiled a few helpful tips that will take your Ford F-150 ownership experience to the next level, so as you bask in your exceptional deal and look forward to the many jobs well done, read up on how to get to know your truck even better.

Download the FordPass™ App.

Ford owners know that with the FordPass™ App downloaded on their device, there's very little they can't do. We're talking about access to an entire suite of complimentary features, like remote start/stop and lock/unlock, FordPass™ Rewards, vital vehicle information and more. Plus, when you have the FordPass™ App, you'll be able to unlock the free Ford Roadside Assistance that comes with your vehicle purchase (for up to five years or 60,000 miles, from the date of sale).*

Get to know your boundaries.

Your full-size pickup truck won't corner like your old sedan — a Ford F-150 has a little more poundage to consider. You'll notice that handling and maneuverability come with new boundaries, so prepare yourself to brake sooner, accelerate slowly and check weight and height measurements on low-hanging bridges or narrow streets. But remember, while your Ford F-150 does restrict some movement, its bulk is indispensable to creating capability, so it's worth it!

Use your backup camera.

It'll especially come in handy when you have a trailer attached. Good news: Every new 2022 Ford F-150 comes with a standard rearview camera with Dynamic Hitch Assist, so reversing into a parking spot or hitching up a trailer will feel effortless. However, if you've never consistently driven a full-size pickup truck before, we suggest practicing how to reverse your F-150 safely before you have thousands of pounds hitched to your vehicle.

Become familiar with the Ford SYNC® 4 system.

But please don't try to figure out the system while you're driving! When you're parked, turn on your 2022 Ford F-150 to start up the standard SYNC® 4 system, open your owner's manual (or turn on a Ford how-to YouTube video) and get familiar with your truck's high-tech infotainment system. With all the available features — navigation, various apps and other conveniences — there will be a good bit to understand. Any questions? Ask our team for help!

Keep up with maintenance.

This bit may seem intuitive, but as you're enjoying everything your Ford F-150 has to offer, you may forget to keep up with its regular maintenance. Refer to your owner's manual for its service intervals, and when it's time for an oil change or tire rotation, give our service center a call. We'd be happy to schedule an appointment to give your F-150 the tailored service it requires!

If you'd like to become a first-time Ford F-150 owner, stop by Karl Malone Ford at 1730 West Hillsboro Street, El Dorado, AR 71730 for a test drive. Or if you have any specific questions about your F-150, contact us or schedule a service appointment with our team. We look forward to serving the automotive needs of those throughout Magnolia, Smackover, Strong and Monticello.
